Hi everyone!
Great to see everyone on Saturday for the "official" start to the athletics season.
Like last year we want to begin with an emphasis on Cross Country (XC) to establish a base level of fitness. There will be XC training on Thursday next week in the Park at 6pm.
Our expectation as coaches is that everyone should participate in XC, even the sprinters.
XC League 1 is next Sunday 15th. Races start at 11am. Simply register on the day and take part. Each race costs €3.
We would like the help of parents with the registration of our Crusader athletes on the day and the collection of the race entry. Please make yourself known to Rosie, David or Bob at Cross Country practice on Thursday if you are available and attending the race next Sunday. There will be coaches present on the day to assist: you will need to assign a number to athletes, keep a list of athletes entered the number allocated and age group etc., you will also need stickers and a marker to give each athlete a number: Crusaders numbers go from 2300,2301,2302 and so on.
The way the XC league works is as follows:
Points are accumulated over the 3 league races. All are awarded points for finishing. The top 12 are awarded bonus points. At the end of the League the top 12 with the most accumulated points in each age group are awarded medals.
Juvenile XC League Dates:
1. Sun 15th Sept, Newbridge House Donabate 11am
2. Sun 6th Oct, Phoenix Park, 11am
3. Sun 1st Dec, Tymon Park, 11am
Seperate to the League the Dublin XC championship (the route to qualify for Nationals) takes place on:
Sunday 20th Oct, Even age, Abbotstown, 11am
Sunday 3rd Nov, Santry Demesne TBC, 11am
Nationals Sunday Dec 15th
